   In 33 years Bev Casteel has prepared some 30,000 meals that have kept thousands of hungry tummies filled every school day.
   She served up her last one Wednesday last week, picking up a few extra hugs as students filed through her lunch line at Divide County Elementary School.


JDA incentives aimed at keeping SEO here

   The Divide County Jobs Development Authority has launched an effort to try keep SEO Precision from moving to Sherwood.
   "I feel confident that we can meet or even exceed the package they (Sherwood and Renville County) have offered," said JDA President Doug Graupe in an April 28 letter to SEO.


Elementary play and guest violinists highlight busy month
Aleyah Yuki Fettig (above) an 8-year-old musician from Lignite, will perform with Rev. Mike Fiske of Kenmare Monday at Dakota Theatre in Crosby in a program sponsored by Meadowlark Arts Council and the Sons of Norway.  The Meadowlark Arts Council is collaborating with two other community groups to present programs this month.
   Elementary students will present a play Saturday in a collaboration between the council and the Northwest Cameo Players.
   Monday the arts council teams up with the Sons of Norway to present a program of violin music.
   Bruce Fagerbakke directs "The Inner Winner," a play about young people who are approached on a playground by gang members who attempt to convince them to get involved with drugs.


Consultant to evaluate Crosby Police Department

   Following the theft of four guns from the Crosby Police Department office the city council has decided to hire a consultant to do an independent evaluation of the department.
   Upon recommendation by City Attorney Mike Stefonowicz, the council Monday voted to hire Ralph Mowder, a retired police captain from Bismarck, to do the evaluation.
   "The important thing is that he be given free reign so he can provide an objective report to the council," Stefonowicz said.
